Late night shopping 25th November
Posted at 15.01 on Friday 12tht November 2010.  By: Hugh Dixon, Town Green Street, Rothley.

The keep Rothley Rural campaign has been enormously encouraged by the support it has received against the Brookfields site. Over 200 villagers attended the public meeting and over 800 objection letters where received by Charnwood Borough Council from local residents, we would like to thank everyone, WELL DONE.

Rothley`s late night shopping is on the 25th November when the village lights will be turned on by Sven Goren Eriksson. In order to defray some of the costs incurred by the Rural Rothley Campaign (consultant’s fees, web site and printing) we are holding a tombola event in the village on this evening.

We are seeking your support and encouragement further by requesting donations of prizes for the tombola (those suitable for children wil be especially welcome) we hope you can help. Prizes should be taken to Ray Mills garage on Town Green Street.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. KEEP ROTHLEY RURAL!

Here are a selection of images of a property damaged by flooding in Hallfields Lane.  The images are dated 7th June 2010 after a mild rain shower.  The flooding is a direct result of the activities on the allotment site.

The day after this happened Charles Church hastily dug a storm trench at the rear of the Hallfields Lane properties.

  • Last working farm in the village will be no more.

  • Existing problems of flooding on Hallfields Lane will be increased.

  • Increased traffic on the village.

  • Schools are already full to capacity.

  • No public facilities are proposed for the site.
